After just two years back into Formula One, Renault was able to finish sixth in the constructor’s championship in 2017. This year, they are looking even further up the field as their target. The RS18 will feature more black to offset the striking Renault yellow, which flow along the side pods towards the rear wing. The driver number is also showcased larger on the rear of the car.
With regards to the car itself, Cyril Abiteboul stated “We want to be able to showcase our progression in every regard; power unit, chassis, operations, drivers. Everything must improve and we must continue to grow.” Their goals for this season are rather humble; get more podiums. McLaren and Red Bull will be running the French automaker’s engines this year as well. Red Bull has certainly proved the capability of the Renault power unit with their performance towards the end of last year. Considering Red Bull’s performance, Renault could be well within a shot of third or fourth place in the constructor’s. Additionally, Carlos Sainz will be with Renault full time this year. He is often regarded as one of the up-and-coming drivers in F1.
