As of 2019, Volvo will no longer offer gasoline-only powertrains on their cars. Don’t fret, not all Volvos will be purely electric (that’s what Polestar is for). Volvo CEO, Hakan Samuelsson, announced that every Volvo model will come with at least on electric motor. This announcement marks another drastic change in Volvo’s lineup. The Chinese-owned Swedish car company were originally planning on slowly introducing more EV and hybrids, but their positioning pushed them to ramp up their electric offerings. It seems Volvo’s goals are to increase sales and market themselves to the average consumer.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Volvos have the best value on the market today. Ever since I drove an XC90 and experienced the luxurious Ikea-like interior, I’ve been obsessed. Their interiors are already giving Tesla a run for their money, and now they could be doing the same in the EV market.
